Overview

We are moving the above Post Office branch to a new location: Premier Store, 38 Canterbury Road, Newton Hall, DH1 5PY, where it will operate as one of our local style branches.

Why are we moving?

Unfortunately our retail partner, McColll’s Retail Group, resigned and the premises were no longer available for Post Office use, Newton Hall branch closed on Sunday 12 January 2020. Shortly after the closure of the Post Office, a temporary service was put in place at the Premier Store and currently operates the following opening hours:

Monday – Saturday   09:00 – 17:30

Sunday                   Closed

I am pleased to advise that we have now identified a new agent who will continue to operate a Post Office service from the new premises. The new branch is scheduled to open on Wednesday 25 March 2020. Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term and the relocation of Newton Hall Post Office will enable us to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in the local community.

The current temporary service will stop when the new branch opens on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

Your new Post Office branch

Customers would access Post Office services at two low-screened, open-plan, modern serving points that’s part of the retail counter. Working with the postmaster, we’d adapt the current store layout, fixtures and fittings to accommodate the Post Office till if needed. The branch will offer a wide range of Post Office products and services over longer opening hours, so customers can access their Post Office when it’s convenient. Customer satisfaction with local style branches stands at 96 per cent, and nearly 20 per cent of local branch customers visit outside traditional opening hours.
