Overview

We are delighted to let you know that following the temporary closure of Marsh Gibbon Post Office we will be re-opening the branch on Friday 23 September 2022 at 13:00.

This will be in a new location - Marsh Gibbon Village Shop, 1 Berry Close, Marsh Gibbon, Bicester, OX27 0AY. The new premises, which are currently empty, will undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate the retail store with Marsh Gibbon Post Office.

You may be aware, following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, the above branch closed temporarily on Wednesday 2 June 2021.

In the interim, to serve the local community with continued access to Post Office services we set up a temporary Post Office service, on Friday 11 June 2021, which is operating from, St Mary's Church, Station Road, Marsh Gibbon, Bicester, OX27 0HQ. This service will also cease Friday 23 September 2022.

Your new Post Office branch

Customers would access Post Office services at a low-screened, open-plan, modern serving point that’s part of the retail counter. Working with the postmaster, we’d adapt the current store layout, fixtures and fittings to accommodate the Post Office till if needed.

The branch will offer a range of Post Office products and services over longer opening hours, so customers can access their Post Office when it’s convenient. Customer satisfaction with local style branches is high, and many local branch customers visit outside traditional opening hours.

We have provided posters for display in the temporary Post Office at St Mary's Church and in the local area of Marsh Gibbon to let customers know the good news.

We are keen to restore services to this community as soon as possible so we are now progressing with these plans. However, we would welcome suggestions about specific aspects of the change that might benefit customers, particularly on access into the premises and its internal layout.

Why your views matter

Whilst the decision has already been made to re-open this branch, we would still like your views on access at the new location. We welcome feedback that can help inform our plans and the questionnaire below asks for comments on the following areas:

  • Access into the new premises (Question 4)
  • Access inside the new premises (Question 5)
  • Any further feedback on our plans (Question 6)

What happens next

Thank you for your support in restoring the Post Office service in Marsh Gibbon.
