Overview

We are moving the above Post Office branch to a new location: Borders Pharmacy, 8A Marmion Road, Galashiels, TD1 2DE, where it will continue to operate as one of our local style branches.

Why are we moving?

As you may be aware, our Postmasters operate Post Office branches alongside their private retail business, and it is important that they make the very best use of their resources to ensure future sustainability of both their business and the Post Office service. In this case, the Postmaster has identified an opportunity to move this branch into an alternative new location to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community.

Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term and the Postmaster firmly believes that the move will help secure continued access to Post Office services locally, as well as supporting the viability of their business.

The previous Post Office branch closed on Wednesday 06 October 2021 and your new-look Post Office is scheduled to open on Friday 22 October 2021 at 13:00. If there are any unforeseen circumstances which mean these dates change, posters will be displayed to let customers know. 

During transfer of the branch customers requiring Post Office facilities may use any convenient Post Office service. Details of two alternative Post Office branches are provided below for your convenience:

• Galashiels Post Office, WHSmith, 29-33 Channel Street, TD1 1BJ
• Gala Park Post Office, 8 Balmoral Place, Galashiels, TD1 1JE

Why your views matter

Whilst the decision has already been made to move the branch, we would still like your views on access and the service offered at the new location. Therefore, we’re now commencing a local public consultation and before we finalise our plans would like to hear your views.

We will take into account any information and feedback we receive as we finalise our plans for the new branch.
