Overview

We are proposing to move Keighley Post Office branch to a new location within the Airedale Shopping Centre, - 48 Towngate, Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, BD21 3QE - where it would continue to operate as one of our mains style branches.

Why are we proposing this move?

As you may be aware, regrettably, our retail partner WHSmith has recently advised that due to the closure of their store in the Airedale Shopping Centre, they consequently will be withdrawing Post Office services from the same location on Saturday 3 September 2022 at 12:00. Therefore, to minimise any loss of service and to secure a Post Office service to our customers in the local area, I am pleased to advise that we have identified a new postmaster to operate a Post Office service, subject to consultation, from the above new location in the same shopping centre. The proposed premises are currently empty and would undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate Keighley Post Office and convenience store. If the move goes ahead, we are proposing to reopen Keighley branch very soon after it closes at its current location.

Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term and the relocation of Keighley Post Office will enable us to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in the local community.
