Overview
We are proposing to move the above Post Office branch to a new location: Ferncliffe Stores, 29–31 Ferncliffe Road, Bingley, BD16 4PR, where it would operate as one of our local style branches and would be known as Ferncliffe Post Office.
Why are we proposing this move?
With the current postmaster’s wish to leave the business, we have been working to identify an alternative location to continue to offer Post Office services to the community. In doing so we have approached other retailers in the local area and received only one application, we have had no other interest or formal applications for the opportunity to operate the service. We are therefore now pleased to confirm that this single applicant has been appointed.
We appreciate that the distance is further away from the current branch location and whilst some customers will find the proposed new location easier to get to others may find it more difficult. However, we have had to balance this with our priority to safeguard our services in the local area in the longer term and, subject to consultation, the relocation of Gilstead Post Office would enable us to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in the community.
Why your views matter
We’re carrying out a local public consultation and we’d like your views on the proposal. We welcome feedback and comments that can help inform our plans. In this survey we will be asking specific questions related to the following areas:
- Getting to the proposed location (Question 4)
- Getting into the proposed location (Question 5)
- Inside the proposed location (Question 6)
- Other feedback on our proposal (Questions 7 - 9)
What happens next
Thank you for considering our proposal. We will take into account any information and feedback we receive as we finalise our plans for the new branch.
